Established
in 1992 and covering an area of 800,000 km2,
the Wujiang Economic Development Zone has grown
into one of the seven largest bases of IT industries
in Jiangsu province and has been nominated for
three straight years as the Most Advanced Zone.
With the Wujiang
Economic Development Zone as the lead, Songling
and Tongli Economic Development Zone as the
support, the electronic and IT industry has
been formed chiefly on the basis of the investment
from Taiwan. At present, approximately 300
electronic and IT enterprises
have settled down in the Zones, accumulating

billion foreign capital under contract, among
which 40 listed companies from Taiwan have
settled down in Wujiang. The Zones develop
and manufacture laptop computers, computer
hosts, monitors, scanners, cellular phones,
and power suppliers, as well as the electronic
IT products including the resistance, capacitance,
inductance, transformers, circuit ban, tie,
hardware elements, plastic products, scanners,
monitors, and computers, which have formed
an integrated industrial chain. Annually,
these enterprises put out 10 million color
monitors, 3.6 million scanners, 3 million
computer hosts, 5 million portable computers,
220 million micro-engines, 12 million cellular
phones and large amount of computer peripheral
products, with the export counting for 5 billion
dollars. The value added on the enterprise
industry in the Zone has occupied 20% in total
in Wujiang, and the industrial production
value takes up 25% in total, with the import
and export amounting to 70%. Thus, the Wujiang
IT technology industry park has come into
being, and has won its reputation among the
international IT industry. Additionally, there
is Japan investment industrial park within
the Zone.
The infrastructure facilities in Wujiang Economic
Development Zone have been perfect, with a
capacity for providing over 1 million km2
of standard workshops. The Zone has been equipped
with the customs direct inspection office,
the supporting logistic centers, and the public
bonded warehouse with EDI network.
The Network Supervising
Area of processing trade, situated in Wujiang
economic development zone and covering 2.3
km2, is the first national experimental site
established with the permission of the National
Customs
Headquarters in March, 2002. This is a given
area for the customs to collectively manage
the networking enterprises of processing trade.
All of the enterprises in the Zone are operated
by computer network management, exempted from
desk accounts and mannuals, and replaced with
periodical check, and regular cancellation
after verification of the sales. The enterprises
within the Zone can enjoy the prestige in
advance of getting through the convenient
customs formalities of customs clearance,
electronic customs clearance, speedy customs
declaration, and of the guarantee, inspection
and discharging procedures. The in-depth carry-forward
operations of the enterprises in the Zone
are free from the examination and approval
procedures, and can directly clear the customs.
Furthermore, the processing operations that
are carried out of the Zone enjoy the privilege
