Wujiang
is located in the far south of Jiangsu Province , China, right
at the golden triangle intersection of Jiangsu, Zhejiang and Shanghai.
The city stretches 1,176 km2, with a population of 780,000 and
9 towns to its name. It has been noted as the Town of Fish and
Rice and the City of Silk along Taihu Lake.
Wujiang has been crowned with the titles
-- the Civilized City, National Sanitary City, National Excellent
Tourist City, National Excellent City for comprehensive Municipal
and Environmental management, as well as one of the China¡¯s most
advanced cities for its culture, education, science and technology,
sports, and the greening of the environment.
Wujiang¡¯s economy is highly developed,
with a GDP over RMB 50 billion, and revenue of RMB 8.2 billion
respectively in 2006. Additionally, there are 1200 foreign enterprises,
with a total investment capital amounting to $17 billion, and over
$14 billion of international import and export. In 2006, Wujiang
ranked the 2nd in the 7th National Contest of County-level
Basic Economic Competitive which 2,052 counties as participants.
Now, Wujiang has become one of the new cities with the greatest
developing potentials in the Yangtse economic delta. |
