1) General introduction     Wanping is the most important town for sewing equipment production. There are 146 factories specialized in the production of sewing machines and its spare parts, among which there are 11 factories, including 3 foreign funded enterprises, that are doing complete machine production with an annual output of 500,000 sets. Their products include high speed plain edge machine for fabrics of mid or high thickness, high speed over-edging

machine, automatic plain edge machine, flat seam machine, computer embroidery machine, zigzag sewing machine etc. The output of the sewing machine for fabrics of mid or high thickness accounts for 40% of the total domestic market share of the products in the same category. There are over 3,000 types of sewing machine spare parts produced in the town, which has a complete range of production capabilities varying from casting, precision casting, forging and pressing to precision hardware processing. The annual sales of the spare parts amount to 300 million RMB. The products of complete machine and its spare parts have been exported to a lot of countries and areas in the world, namely the USA, Japan, Turkey and Taiwan. The annual exports amount to 10 million US dollars.

2) Investment facilities

    With complete infrastructure, Wanping Sewing Equipment Industrial Park covers an area of 6 sq.km, providing 4 sq.m of standard factory workshops to let. At present, there are 93 enterprises that have established themselves in the zone, among which there are 21 foreign funded enterpries with 5,000 employees .

    Firstly, there is a complete range group of sewing machine parts production in the town, where all kinds of spare parts processing requirements can be satisfied. Since all the spare parts can be purchased locally, it help to reduce the cost of transportation and complete machine production to such a great extent that the complete machine products are competitive in the market. Secondly, it has its strength in machining talents. Thirdly, the sewing machine industry of Wujiang enjoys good reputation both domestically and internationally. 4) Investment orientation

    Efforts should be made to introduce and develop electromechanical sewing machine, expand the manufacture of computer embroidery machine and sewing machine for special purposes, so as to develop a wide variety of products.
